Welcome to RR-Therapies
Hello, my name is Rose-Marie Ross and my “how I got here” story is very simple. Transitioning from a career rooted in social care to complementary therapies can be a significant shift, but it also offers opportunities to continue making a positive impact on people's lives in a different capacity.
My background in social care provided me with valuable skills such as empathy, active listening, communication, and understanding individual needs. These skills are highly transferable, and I endeavour to apply them effectively in the field of complementary therapies.
I gained my HND accreditation by attending The City of Glasgow College for 3 years, where during the course of my studies, my fellow students and I had to endure some additional challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant that our learning was altered to suit these circumstances, but these extra challenges only served to make me more determined to achieve my goal, which I did on 20th November 2023. During my time at college, I was very fortunate to become friends with fellow complementary therapist Zoe Murdoch, who also shared my passion of improving the physical & mental wellbeing of those who really needed it. It didn’t take long before we both realised that we had similar life goals, and that our plans for the future were practically identical so Zoe didn’t just become a valued work colleague, she also became an amazing friend.
As part of my college studies, I was tasked to take part in a temporary work placement in within St Margaret Of Scotland Hospice, little did I realise that within 3 months of completing my HND in complementary therapies, I’d be working here on a full time basis and absolutely loving it.
Working within “SMH” has given me the chance to meet some truly inspirational residents, while also giving me the chance to work alongside some very hard working, dedicated staff. I believe that working within a hospice setting has made me more aware of the benefits that holistic therapies can have when used effectively alongside traditional allopathic treatments.
